P0400 EGR Flow Malfunction

So i've replaced the EGR Valve and the EGR Vacuum Solenoid, no luck.

I'm running long tube headers, but the provisions are hooked up.

I cannot find a vacuum leak anywhere!

Any idea's where this "Malfunction" Might be taking place?!

I had the same problem, it is pretty common with a long tube install. I had my PCM tuned by Madz28.com and he was able to tweek it where it now functions and does not post an SES light.

Cool Common

for those with headers and exhaust. Just a back pressure type issue from opening up all the factory restricted air passages. Heck even some with just a catback report it. I just read, erase and go on my way. Only really see it on the highway now if I row into 6th before the car is really warmed up. Very weird code.

Re: P0400 EGR Flow Malfunction

well this **** pops up 5 minutes after i start driving it if i delete it.

I know on the passanger header there is the EGR provision that bolts to the head.. I hooked it up but I never replaced that seal/gasket after i took the manifolds off and put the headers on.. but i cant seem to find one to replace it with. If that isnt sealed well enough do you think the leak from it is enough to cause it to throw codes? power/gas mileage loss at all?

I really dont think it is from the factory air restrictions. Any other ideas? Do you think that seal not being there is enough to through the code?

Re: P0400 EGR Flow Malfunction

With long tube headers and/or no cats there isn't enought "back-pressure" in the exhaust system to feed the EGR requirements. The fix for this is to have DTC-P0400 programmed out. Either PCMforLess, or MadZ28 can fix you up.

Re: P0400 EGR Flow Malfunction

this is weird...i installed a K&N FIPK and now i have this code too. comes up about a day or so after clearing it.

the previous owner of my intake did the IAT relocate, so i did too. the sensor is on top of the FIPK right by the K&N logo. could this cause a misread of the EGR?

is ur car an auto?

if so u have the "negative backpressure" egr

u need to change to the "positive backpressure" egr which is found on the manual cars

the problem is that there isnt enough backpressure with the longtubes to function the egr properly
