Overheating and boiling coolant!!
 

So since I bought my car I have had issues with the coolant reservoir. It appears to get super hot and boils out of the cap....A LOT. Also, my engine is overheating and gets really hot when idling, but when i start to cruise the temp drops down a bit. Could this be a fan issue? Also, I just replaced the coolant tank, thermostat, and radiator cap. So far the boiling hasnt stopped since the new tank and new thermostat, (just replaced the rad cap today, still waiting on results) but i have a feeling the issue is deeper than that. I bought a radiator flush kit and am going to give it a flush because the coolant looks pretty dirty even after adding new coolant. Any ideas?

When I bought my 97, the owner told me the radiator needed to be replaced (spurting boiling coolant and overheating while idling). When we got it out I realized the water pump was shot. You might want to check that. A brand new radiator only costs about $100 and a refurbished water pump is about $60. So if either of those look iffy it wouldn't hurt to replace them. Also my A/C condenser was full of dirt so I blew it out (idk if that made a difference). Good luck!

I have yet to check the water pump but that's my final step before replacing the radiator. Thanks for the tip

have you checked that the fan turns on while at idle?

Does it spew after you shut it off or when driving? Some people get the hoses for the reservoir and the steam pipe mixed up when hey are working on stuff. Make sure they are routed correctly. The hose to the reservoir comes from the pipe in the filler neck. The steam pipe hose connects just below that.
