Put your air dam on, thats why its overheating.

It might not be your only problem, but YES you do need the air dam. Good luck.

Put the air dam back on. That's what gives the radiator air when your car is moving. The purpose of the fans are to come on when your car starts to heat up from sitting in traffic or just having your car parked and running. Also I think the fans are supposed to turn off once you reach like 45mph? But i think you said you had yours hotwired so this wouldnt apply.

It also helps when you aren't moving by preventing you from sucking right back in the hot air that just flowed over the radiator

Bolting the air dam back on and seeing if that cures your problem would be a whole lot easier then a coolant drain/refill. Start simple and work your way up.

I took the air dam off because it was cracked and falling apart. It is gone now so it would be cheaper for me to do a flush rather than 65 for an air dam at RKsport

ok ill tell ya about 85% sure its NOT a head gasket. check the coolant, if its brownish and looks like a milkshake then maybe, otherwise no.

the AIRDAM IS THE REASON!!!! you need that baby to suck up the air and put it into your radiator. tell me how the hell any air gets to your radiator to cool the antifreeze if its blocked by a big plastic bumper. it DOESNT!!! the air dam grabs air and pushes it up there. im telling you, that will help more than one would imagine.

A GM one should only cost around 20-30 bucks. That is what I paid for mine.

I think the a/c connection to overheating can be ignored - it's not the cause, just makes it worse. Running a/c will reduce the enigine cooling capacity of any car that puts the a/c condenser in front of the radiator. The condenser gets hot, heats the air maybe 10 - 20F before it gets to the radiator, and so the radiator gets less cooling potential from the air.

Maybe an air pocket in the line. Try bleeding the line and see if that helps any. Are you running a stock T-stat? A 160 might help with the warmer temps. Good luck.

not sure if it's been said or not....but, put the airdam back on.

unless you are sitting in traffic, the airdam moves the air across the radiator, not the fans.

speaking of fans, get them wired correctly. They actually impede air flow over the radiator at high speeds if they are running (they should shut off at high speeds as previously mentioned).

After doing a header install we forgot to put my airdam back on. We just did a tiny drive down a back road to test the car out and the temps climbed very quickly at faster speeds. you NEED the airdam on these cars
