over ... seized? no start but cranks
 

So i just bought this camaro z28 (first car after coming back from deployment, yay!).

the kid i bought it from says he blew the head gasket. I 've fixed a lot of cars with this stuff called steel seal in the past, so i thought i could make a quick buck. Girls can always sell cars for more money ;)

But.... the car doesn't start. At first it didn't even crank - thought the engine MIGHT be seized but then i took out a couple spark plugs and NOW it does crank.

But it cranks super slowly... like a whole second in-between and still doesn't start.

things i checked:
Fuel pumps ok (vibrates)
Battery is charged
fuses good

oil pressure reads nothing while cranking - is that normal?
check engine light on

now my question..... is there anyway to make this car RUN without replacing the head?
why doesn't it at least start?

may have hydrolocked it when it blew the gasket, or overheated it and partially siezed it. I had the same problem with a trans am that also had been overheated, would barely turn over because of the internal damage.

If the head gasket blew and allowed coolant into the cylinders, it could still have fluid in the cylinders. You'll need to remove all the spark plugs and crank it over for 30 seconds or so to push any liquid out of the cylinders. Then put new plugs in and try.

Although, if it does have a blown head gasket, not sure how I feel about giving advice to someone who is going to pour something in to make it look 'ok' and then sell it to some poor sap?

Replace the head gasket. A blown head gasket is always from an underlying cause. If you are having cranking problems (especially after pouring in that crap :rolleyes:) then you better do a little more digging before cranking it over repeatedly and REALLY blowing it up.
