Optispark torx screws...

Okay, I am having problems with these four opti *** backwards torx headed screws. The four I have are rounded off and unusable.

These screws are a major screwball size, they appear to be 3.5mm or so and cant be found anywhere, not even in allen head.

Can I drill out the holes in the base and use four 6-32 screws with locking nuts and not have a clearance problem when mounting it on the engine? I am referring to the four lock nuts that would be used on the back of the opti base.

Even better does anyone have four undamaged opti screws that someone will part with? I also want one of the torx screws found on the plastic cover of the throttle body to turn it into a removal tool. If someone has these five screws they want to part with please PM me.

Thanks

Use one of the throttle body plate bolts. Put tape on the thread so you don't strip it and use some pliers to remove the opti bolts. Works like a charm.

I have the tool covered.
I have the tool covered, anyone have any screws they can part with or an answer to my question about the nuts on the back of the opti base?

Re: Optispark torx screws...

you shouldnt have to put thru bolts in, just get some allen head cap screws to replace the old ones with.

btw to remove those screws i had a random bolt laying around that was the inverse of those inverse screws so i double nutted it and used it as a 'socket'.

But what type of tool does one use to remove the small two (2) rotor screws??? I'm stumped with those. I've tried every torx I could buy.

It just aint that simple. The screws are 3.5mm fine thread which you WILL NOT find at any hardware stores. This is a very funky size to find.

I now have two of the screws I need, just need two more.
Anyone?

They are T9. I got mine at a Sears Appliance and Tool Store. They are screwdriver handled and can buy individual sizes. T8 will also work. If the screw head has crap in it a the T8 will work better. Take the opti with you and try them out.
