Opti-Direct Ignition Systems

Hello Folks !!...:usa:
I'm a new Member with a 95 Z28. With 85 Grand on the clock, I'll need to tune her up soon. I've never had "OptiSpark" before...but I was told I should change her to "Opti-Direct Ignition System". Has anyone here tried this system? It's supposed to be the same system as the "Caddy Norstar". Anybody have any info ??...
Thanks in advance
Fred from Columbia City, Or:D

Re: Opti-Direct Ignition Systems

I have the delteq system and have no complaints. Its a waste spark design so it only has four coils as opposed to a coil for each cylinder but it has worked flawlessly on my car for about a year now. I've heard nothing good about the LTCC or delteq however they both have a few pros and cons. the LTCC requires some fabrication and doesnt come as a complete kit. However you can find everything you need with little problem. The Delteq comes as a complete kit, is very easy to install and works great, however it cannot be used with aftermarket ignitions so it could be a problem if you ever go forced induction/nirtrous. Also, be advised that both systems rely on the optical pick-up portion of the opti, it does not get rid of the opti as a whole, they just remove the spark from the cap/rotor of the opti which is generally the most problematic piece with the opti. As long as you're pick-up portion of the opti is functioning, both of the systems will work. Since I replaced my opti twice within a few months I decided to go the delteq route and have never looked back.
