Hay guys I have a ? About the opti (95+) if it is put on wrong will the car idle? Another? If I the opti is put on wrong what will happen if I give it gas and make the car start. Will it run smoothly or ruff?

I don't think it's really possible to put the opti on "wrong". There are three "openings" on the end that mates to the camshaft. Only one has a slot that will allow the dowel pin into the opti. I don't think you could even force it on incorrectly. So odds are, you should be fine. A more likely scenario of ignition woes after an opti remove/replace would be switched plugs wires, moisture in the opti, etc.

 

Well the car ran fine for 15 min then I shut it off and changed the oil and now it will not idle. I can give it gas and it will run smoothly as long as I give it a little bit of the pedal. It is getting spark and fuel. I am going to clean the IAT sensor and see if that helps. Oh ya and I just put a cam and new heads on the car.

There have been lots of people that have put the vented opti on wrong (I don't know how, but they have). Not sure it would start, though. Did you get a reprogram for your cam/heads? You may be fouling your plugs.

 

Shoebox the car is running very rich its throwing fuel out the back. I tried putting new plugs in to see if that would help and it didn't.

What gets me is that it started wright up with no problems the other day and now it won’t start unless I give it some pedal.

Shoebox can I check the IAT count if I am holding the throttle open so the car will run? Or will that mess up the reading?

Well guys I cleaned the IAT sensor and the car started Wright up and idled just fine. It even idled fine in drive. So I took it for a drive and it was gong just fine then it started dying at stops and now it wont idle again.

Do yall think I need a new IAT sensor or just some programming?

A new IAT is only about 10 bucks. Might as well just buy one and put it in. Cant hurt anything and it might fix things.
