OMG I need help did suttin bad I think
 

My car had this problem over heating and I changed the sensor in front of the water pump and the car ran pretty good 210. Well the car got worse again and couple guys said the sensor on the block I unplug it and bam the plastics crumple to a million pieces Im guessing from the heat. I tried using a wrench to take the sensor nut off and its stuck used a long wrench and a hammer. The pins are showing threw the gold bolt that on the block. I can't get it off. I changed the fuses from the fog lights and no luck.My friend used the thing that you poke at the fuse box and the fans went on!! They never go on and the car goes near the red but if you leave from a stop light when you gas it a little the first 10 ft the car goes to 210 from the red zone!!! I'm hoping its the gauge sensor near the block. Its a bitch!! Wouldn't the fans turn on even though the gauge senor is bad?? Is the car really running hot? I don't have a tool to scan the PCM to see what the car temp is really running. I hope I didn't break the sensor. Help me I tried every thing has to be the sensor. Weird pat is that I strarted the car and no engine light even though the heat sensor broke off even though it was prolly shot

take it to a mechanic, easy as that

I dont remember what controlls the fans, but do a search for "fans not comming on and do a little reading and i am sure you will find out why they arnt comming on.

Also you didnt take out the air damn did you? (the black plastic pice at the bottom of the radiator)

BTW DONT drive the car untill you get this figuared out, you can pop the head gasket if you keep overheating it.

Also have you draind the coolant lately?
Search for cooling system bleeding.

The sensor on the drivers side head is just for the temp gauge on the instrument cluster. When the car overheats, does it go in the red? Are the fans coming on?

There is a secondary circuit in with the A/C. If you turn the A/C on the fans will come on. You could use that method until you take it to a shop. Don't drive the car if it's going into the red. You'll have a lot more problems on your hands. If you have to use the vehicle. Use the A/C method. It got me through for a week.

Check your fuses and relays.

Have you ever changed the thermostat?

If you read my new forum I bought a guage sensor. I think it worked. I let it idle because I wasn't sure if maybe I didn't tighten the sensor on the block good becuase the automatic ratchet was in the way with the Head and I used another tool and still a couple threads show on the new Sensor but it doesn't leak around the threads that are showing. The car warmed up oddly fast and I came back home under 10 min and it actually stayed under 210!! It used to go up to next to the red!! but when you leave a stop sign and gas it alittle like 10 feet forward the needle would slam back down to 205- 210!! SO I just changed it and it working pretty good. Should I bleed the coolant becuase when I changed the sensor coolant was pissin out so quickly I installed the new sensor.

AC never makes the fans go on. relays are good, fuses are good, did the sensor on the water pump last month but only worked well for about month, lol. Thermostat I never changed. Mechanics told me it wasn't the thermostat.I hope its safe to drive the car because the sensor that I installed shows like 2 or 3 threads and it wont go any tighter. Thank you guys for helping me. If it wasn't for you guys I would of sold the LT1 along time ago.

The sensor is not supposed to thread all the way in. The threads are tapered and only needs to be screwed in enough to where it does not leak. Over-tightening it can blow out the threads and then you will need to have the threads repaired. Don't make problems for yourself.

The block coolant temp. sensor has absolutely nothing to do with overheating. It does not go to the PCM at all, it has a single wire that goes to the temp. guage inside the car. It either works or it doesn't. And it doesn't take that much torque to seat it.

As for your overheating problem, the LT1 is made to run hot from the factory. There are several threads on here about this, and a search would turn them up. If you doubt the coolant that is in there now, I would recommend you drain it and change it anyway, and while you are at it change the thermostat. Start eliminating things first, then go from there.

You need to get all the air out of the system. If you bleed it and get nothing but air and did it right your fine. I had the gauge in the car go bad and it would read fine and then slowly rise to almost the red and then drop to normal in a second. I replaced the sensor in the block and it still did it. Do you have 50/50 mixture antifreeze?
