Okay, I am ready to buy my car monday and need some pricing advice

its a redish orange 97 Camaro A4 V8 leather interior (yuck, I hate leather) with 52k miles, new 17" vette/ss type rims and falcon tires. It has a big tall *** tail, which he says was factory?????, and is in prisinte condition, not a scratch on it, almost not even swirl marks on the paint. I know that NADA says 9k-something and kelly says 8300. Nada actually gave me two differant prices 2 differant itmes??? Anyways, what do you all think I should offer him? He is asking $10,000 for it but I can only get a hold of $7,500 as of now, maybe $8,000 if I am lucky. Maybe if I sell some blood I could get more. Could pimp myself out some too and get a little extra cash, "to any ladies out there, I am available, and fairly cheap, I need the money!!".

I picked up my 96 for 2700$. 96k miles and all it needed is a driver fender, wheel bearings, and some gas.... LOL

I'd offer him 8 grand.

$10,000 sounds(IS) too high for an Lt1 car. There are some GREAT LT1 cars on the classifieds section here on this site. I paid $4000 for my Beautiful '94 Formula 6-spd 2yrs ago, and just bought a great '96 Z/28 6-spd for $1500 3weeks ago.

Re: Okay, I am ready to buy my car monday and need some pricing advice

I picked my 97( 70K miles) up for 6250 3 years ago, and it needed breaks and rotors. I would say shoot him an offer of 7000 first see what he says. Bring cash in hand. Then if he says no comeback with 8. To me 10K seems a little steep even if thoses are the real miles.

Make sure you check the car out real well before you are for sure on buying it. Some people get real creative with temporary fixes on cars.

Also don't let your excitment lead you into buying something that may not be worth it. Sooner or later a awesome deal and machine will roll into your path.

If its as great as you say it is then best of luck to you. Even though I'd be weary if he's telling you a Big A** wing came stock?

Best of luck with your decision, it'll work out either way.

I am a little screwed becasue it has to be a 97 (hate hate hate the earlier interiors, sorry pre 97 guys) and I really wanted the red to replace my old one, but, at 2700, I AM thinking about that route also, it would just have to be a 97, lol.

I might be exagerating a little on that one but it is definitly bigger and differant than any I have seen. Its just a regular stright up and over 4"?, at the top, rectanguler (aire gap) tail, never seen one before on a stock camaro.

I just thought of something, he DOES have the window sticker so maybe the tail is listed on it?? hmmmmm.........

Being picky is costly. If I was picky I'd be deep in debt for a Corvette, but no, I'll mod my cheap ones and be faster and no debt. Don't let an interior cost so much, it will not do anything at all. Like one has already said, put a '97 interior in a cheaper car.

Sounds cool, I might do that.

Yes, I can be a tool sometimes, a pain in my own *** at that. The other factor about this car is that it is like new. I want a new car but cant afford it and this looks like the closest thing, BUT I AM very frugal when it comes to value. I belive every car I have ever owned got something done to it that no one else has ever done or would have done, so, buying an older car and doing something to it is a very viable option for me. I just have too many of them projects already and really do not want another project. I still have a jeep grand cherokee that I put a totaly differant trans in than anyone has ever done before (I like being the trail blazer) that needs to be finished. So, if I seem to be whinning about this car or you all do not think I am listening, I am, I just need to know what a fair price for it is.

He did mention something about an LT4 something something ...........??????????????

Re: Okay, I am ready to buy my car monday and need some pricing advice

don't spend $10k on an LT1.

a quick search on autotrader.com shows over 1,000 1998+ camaros for $10k or less, in the US (although that includes V6's) and ~130 V8 formulas/TA's

like this:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...en&cardist=518

remember: LS1 > LT1

true.

Re: Okay, I am ready to buy my car monday and need some pricing advice

popo8, looks nice and sounds like a damn good deal but I am looking for exerior perfection first before speed. You do have me wondering though, how many miles on her when you stuck the charger on and how many miles do you have on her now?

I dont like the LS1 noses, unfortionatly.

I really dont want to spend 10k on it, thats for sure and would walk at 10k. Unfortionatly here in VA area, they sell s**ty beaters for 7k at 108k miles, bad market here.

Re: Okay, I am ready to buy my car monday and need some pricing advice

If you are going to spend the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
Have someone else look at the car too. Local garage, etc. And
be prepared. If they say no, or the car has a list of parts it
needs, let the negoiating begin or walk away.
The last thing you need is to spend all available cash and then
have the thing be unsafe or needing brakes, tires, etc.
Good Luck !!
