ok, valvetrain noise help...

I have readjusted the RR's many times since this noise has come about, and have driven maybe 5-10 miles w/ the noise in the motor (hate to drive it at all) and I cannot get this noise to go away. I am definitly thinking this is a collapsed lifter, because of the sticky I see about comp-r lifters. It sounds like a loud clack, but it is not there at idle. You have to rev it to 3000rpms or so to even hear it. It does get louder w/ rpms though... is this a lifter? I just dont want to take off my intake manifold if I don't have to... I guess I will go back and readjust all the rr's again? What would a loose connecting rod pin sound like?

thanks again

ok, so does anyone remember the noise of a collapsed lifter? or of a connecting rod knocked loose? or any underlying symptoms of each? I felt way down on power when the noise is in (im guessing knock is pulling timing)

Did the noise just all the sudden start or was it after a mod? Could you provide a sound clip of it?

Re: ok, valvetrain noise help...

noise started after a trip to the 1/4 mile. I did run out of gas (yes, the guage is empty at like 1/10th of a tank) halfway down the track and suspect this to be the problem, but it doesnt seem fuel related.... i went down the track, it launched ok, but at high rpms just fell on its face so i idled the rest of the way.
