Which Oil pan?

I bought a new short block w/o an oil pan and i need to know what kinda pan i should run on a 383 with a scat 9000 crank. Would a stock pan work, or should i go with a canton? Could i use a SBC 1-piece rear main pan and adapt it for low oil sensor?

Thanks,
Stu

Re: Which Oil pan?

I had a post asking about this Im sure will come up if you search oil pan 383 or something. I ended up using my stock pan. not too bad, but you need to "massage" the pan to fit. I can send you pics if you want to reuse your pan. I decided to reuse mine for two reasons, #1 money. those canton pans are like $280 plus shipping and need a diff. oil p[ump pickup tube. #2 is mine is not a high rpm engine. I'll wind it out when I get it dynoed, but I only plan on reving it to around 6200 or so, but will go as high as the power is still coming on.
if your car will see lots of drag strip time, you have the money, or you dont have the time to mod your pan, then Id get the canton pan and be done with it.

Re: Which Oil pan?

Thats what i was thinking... i might even just bust out a welder and fix the MASSIVE hole in my stocker. It is kinda ****ed. I just ripped apart the motor and its kinda messed up. I was pulling rods and piston pieces from the oil pan. It was kinda depressing.
