oil leak?

under the front of the car it looks like there may be some oil leaking, guy at midas said it was the front seal, are these expensive? also my air filter when it was last cleaned was cleaned and dried (he used high pressure air  ) and then it wasnt re-oiled, also my alternator is busted, what am i looking at total in repairs?

I noticed the same oil leak under the front of my car. Is it right under the optispark behind the large pulley wheel? From reading on this message board I think it may be the timing chain cover, but I'm not sure.

I'm not sure how much an alternator costs, but I'd guess anywhere from $80-$150. I wouldn't pay someone to replace that, it's very easy to replace on our cars, just a few bolts.

Well, I'm not sure how much the front seal actually costs in terms of the part itself.

You didn't list any modifications to your car, so assuming that you have a stock air filter in the stock box, you should be OK on the air filter itself, if it does need to be replaced, a new paper filter is fairly cheap. Might as well use this opportunity to put a CAI on there though. (If it's broke, upgrade it!) The alternator shouldn't be too bad of an install, both of these two repairs you could do yourself to save the repair costs. You can pick up an alternator at AutoZone or PepBoys for $150-200.
