Oil filler tube

1995 Z28

My oil filler tube won't stay tight and I'd like a new o-ring for it. Does anyone know what o-ring it is? I can find one online for the 3.8 filler cap but don't know if it's the same one. Also what has anyone done about the loose filler neck? Mine is leaking and it's making a mess.

Kywes, Did you ever get a part number for the O-ring on the filler neck?

Nope, never did find out what the part is for sure. I'd still like to know.

Hi KYWes, I had luck with the O-ring for the filler neck to valve cover connection but not the cap to filler neck though I think they should be the same O-ring. I bought some generic metric size O-rings from my NAPA auto parts store that were listed for fitting 30 mm fittings. The actual rubber ring is slightly smaller than 30 mm on inside dimension and about 3 mm thick. I was able to get it onto the filler neck O-ring slot no problem and with a little silicone oil got the neck to screw all the way down to the valve cover top surface. When I tried using the same O-ring for the cap I could not get the cap to seat all the way into the filler neck recess like the original O-rings do.
