Oil cooler?
Could i take the two water supply lines that go to the oil cooler THAT ARE CAPED OFF NOW and run them to a sep. radiator, I have a heat exchanger/ rad that is 27"x12"XI" with 1/2 npt fittings on it.
Trying to get the car to run cooler. p.s. 94 camaro s-400-88 turbo... thanks.... |
I don't see why you could not try it.
|
sure you could. but, if you hook them both up to a radiator you'll have no flow going through it.
|
IS the pres. on the pump side or rad. side?
|
how would i need to do it , How dose it flow with the cooler installed then?
|
good question. I don't know for sure. I assume it would be the pump. Look at an exploded view of the pump to tell you for sure.

You could plumb the second radiator in series, between the pump and the cooler, and that would give your oil cooler colder coolant. Thus lowering your oil temperature. But, if you put the extra radiator in front of the existing one, your coolant temp may actually increase due to the extra air resistance, and the extra heat you are putting into the air & coolant from the oil. Plus, you don't want to overcool the oil, it needs to get hot enough to drive moisture out. However, if you put the extra radiator downstream from the oil cooler, you won't affect oil temperatures much, but you will add capacity to the coolant cooling system. If you want to try this, that's the configuration I recommend.

Im not using the oil cooler any more, just looking to cool the water a little better.
