oil change

A friend of mine has an lt1 1997 model with 65k miles. The last 2 1/2 years the cars has had 20w-50 synthetic oil in it. He put 5w-30 in it yesterday. Will this be okay or is the mother ****er gonna blow up? :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :mad:
