OBD1 Conversion Question
Say I had an OBDI computer.. How had would be it be to get this to hook up to my car or am I better off just buying a conversion package?
|
In my opinion I think you would be better off getting the conversion package.
|
You can
a) Go to a local junkyard or something and try to find an OBD-I PCM, and make sure it is from a car that had the same kind of transmission you have. If you do that, you will also have to change your knock sensor to a 94-95 one. b) Get it from madz28.com or pcmforless.com I recommend that you go with choice b. |
Any advantages and/or disadvantages of going to OBD1?? Will my car perform any different?? How are is it to program OBD1 if Im new to PCM programming?
|
obdi is easier to program, its cheaper to get programs for scanning, logging and programing.
also get rid of the rear o2 in the car, makes headers easier, unless you run o2 simms very easy conversion, if you don't already have a pcm, then i would go to pcmforless or madz28 and get a pcm already converted and programmed for your car, that way you don't have to go to the trouble of try to add a resistor to the pcm or change you knock sensor on the engine block |
