OBD 2 in a 95 Z?

I thought 95s were obd 1 but I looked at my connector and its a 16 pin connector. Anyone else with a 95 notice this?

It's an OBDI with an OBDII connector.

You're still an OBDI car. IIRC, halfway through the 1995 production year they started installing the OBDII connector but all pins aren't used, just the ones you need.

1995 was an odd year. The automatic cars also got 2 cats while the M6 cars stayed with the single cat.

The best way to tell is to check the sticker on the radiator support piece. It's printed right in front as you open the hood.

My car is automatic and only has one cat. What I want to know is, since its OBD1 which pins do I use to check the codes?

I never heard of any non-California 95 A4 or M6s with factory installed dual cats. I also think the 95 having both OBDI style connector and OBDII style connector (later on) is a rumour. My car was a pretty early 95 (made late summer '94 if I remember right) and it had the OBDII connector.

You cannot check codes using the pins technique on a 94+ car. That only worked on the 93. You need a scanner for the 95.

I could be so wrong on this. I am in California and have 2 friends who both have 95's. First, they both have OBDII connectors. Second, 1 is an auto and has dual cats and the other is an M6 and has a single cat .... <shrug>. I have no idea of what non-California cars have and maybe I should have just kept thoughts to myself.

I believe all the 95 Cali cars A4 or M6 had dual cats. Mine is an A4 single cat I bought used in Cali but I don't think it's a Cali car. BTW, I'm glad mine is single cat.

A car that came from the factory with California emissions would have RPO code NB6 instead of NA5 for regular Federal emissions like the rest of us got.

AFAIK, all 1995 F-body LT1's had the OBD-II style connector with OBD-I pcms.
