O2 Sensor Replacement
 

I need to replace one of the O2 sensors in my 97 Camaro SS since it is reporting lots of errors and turning on the SES light. I want to keep the car stock since it is really rare, so just eliminating the sensor alltogether is not an option. Any suggestions on what brand/model of part to buy to replace this sensor?

Get a GM/Delco sensor, and be done with it. I hear they are more reliable anyway.

Front sensors are AC DELCO "AFS 75" or part # 25312184

Not sure about the rear o2 part #

Stay with OEM sensor (AC Delco) I've heard to many story's about Bosch failing in a short time of use.

What is the exact code you are getting? Not all O2 sensor codes are necessarily solved by replacing the sensor. If you have the exact code, it might tell you if its a sensor problem, or something else.

The exact Error is P0131 (O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank ne - Sensor One). The car is running a little rough at idle, and I believe that one O2 sensor is the culprit.

running rough at idle is probably due to TPS or IAC (or even MAF) o2s are ignored on idle and WOT i believe (i'm sure about wot, but not sure on idle) but getting a low voltage is usually fixed only by changing it anyways...

i had a front o2 error from both banks, and i looked at my maf (www.fbodyv6.com/Emir/maf1.jpg - the prev owner not me lol) and said holy ****, cleaned it out... and i havent gotten a ses light since... (also changed the TPS cuz it said i was getting low voltage on that)

I have the problem now and it's from an exhaust leak at one of the flanges on the header. Check for some exhaust leaks.

The PCM does NOT ignore the O2 sensors at idle, at least not after its into closed loop.

Low sensor voltage could be a faulty sensor, or faulty wiring. Swap the left and right pre-cat sensors. If the problem follows the sensor, its a sensor problem. If the problem stays on the drivers side, its the wiring or something else.

I know it is not an exhaust leak as I just rebolted all the headers onto the car and verified there were no leaks anywhere in the exhaust.

I will verify that the MAF is not dirty, and if so go ahead and clean that up.

How difficult is it to replace/swap the O2 sensors? Is this a very long job, or is it fairly quick and painless?

Same thing happened to me too!
It will keep happening, because your airpump is crapping out. I put a little filter in between my airpump hose and the snorkel and it seems to be ok now.
That picture shows to me the most important reason NOT to descreen your MAF.
That black stuff is like foam and I'm sure your cylinders would not like it :)

i know right... thank god screen was there, looks like it took out all the big chunks :o

i'll put a lil paper filter or something there... or just clog that hole all the way
