o2 sensor extensions?

How can you test or tell if homemade extensions are working properly? Or should I just buy premade extentions? Who has the best prices? I seen them at thunderracing for $25 each. Anyone have them cheaper? I'd prefer though to get the homemade ones my mechanic made to be working right. The front right o2 sensor isn't reading right, or is not working, so he thinks it may be the wire he made on that side. The left side is fine though.

Get an ohm meter to test it. It should probably read less than an ohm if it is good. If' it's not, it will read something like "O L" meaning out of limit. ie bad. If you don't have one, rig one with a battery and a light bulb, and see if the light comes on.

Re: o2 sensor extensions?

I made my own extentions... but I didn't just cut and solder in wire.

I went to the scrap yard and gathered enough male and female 4 pin connectors and long enough wires to go with them. Long explination short, I crimped the wires into pins and I had myself exactly what I would have got from Thunder Racing (would have cost me over $100 American) and I did it for free. But that way takes some time, patients and a friend who works at a Caddy dealership lol

I'm not sure about the older O2 sensor wires.. but for mine at least (1996) You cannot just cut and solder in an extention. My wires were stainless steel, not copper. And if you do have copper.. I wouldn't reccomend soldering.. the computer reads the O2 info based on resistance. If you change it via added it, you will have a lot of troubles.
