Novice needs help connecting all of the engine electrical

So I've got all of the engine electrical connections disconnected and moved out of the way for work I was doing.just looking for some tips on hooking it all back up.such as connections will only plug in to the correct spot or wire routing. Newb says thanks...

You're better off, taking a pic of which connector, you can't figure out it's home. Once you start the re-installation process you will be amazed how everything fits. I don't recall there being any connections that would plug into, 2 different places.

Re: Novice needs help connecting all of the engine electrical

You really need to provide basic info about your car - year, trans type, does it have traction control, etc. Each year of the LT1 has subtle differences:

Shoebox has a photo of a 1995 engine harness, with all the connectors labeled:

1995 Z28 A4 Engine Harness

94 - 97 are similar. 1993 has many differences.

The factory service manual shows harness routings, and Connection locations - free dowlnload here, courtesy of GaryDoug:

Re: Novice needs help connecting all of the engine electrical

OP

the wiring harness once laid back into place the connectors land close to where they plug in and generally the connectors are part specific....but the injector connections can get crossed so be careful on those

Next time some masking tape and a marker will be very helpful...

Electrical wire markers that are numbered work magic. I never pull anything off without first labeling it.

If you need help identifying devices, Shoebox has pics of just about everything:

4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech-Component Location Views

Again, it would be helpful to know the year of your car.

Re: Novice needs help connecting all of the engine electrical

i'm sorry i wasn'tclear earlier. i removed almost everything from the engine while doing the long tube install.i removed the a.i,r system and the egr. but keeping the evap, thats where the confusion came in.major components such as fuel injectors and opti and alt. are no big deal.its the sensor plugs for air and egr that are confusing.what do i need to keep and what can i eliminate. thanks again for all of the help.

In your profile setup, there is an option for showing your signature on all posts. Make sure it is checked “yes”. And when you are making a post, just below the box you type your message in, to the right, there is a check box for “Show your signature”. If you click on “Go Advanced” the check box moves down further below the message field, with three other check boxes.

I've heard from some people that their signature doesn’t show up when they post from a phone. Seems to vary by make of phone maybe, or with apps like TapTalk (or whatever it is), but mine always shows up, whether I post from my PC, iPad or my "work" Samsung Android phone.

You don't need to eliminate the wiring for devices you have deleted. Tape the connector and tuck it out of site. I have no AIR, no EGR, no EVAP, no MAF, no knock sensor, and no ICM, but the stock harness is intact. Most PCM ends of the stock harness connectors have been repinned to an aftermarket ECU.

If all you have deleted is AIR (only one connector to the pump, but may have one or two more if the AIR system recall was performed) and EGR (only one connector to the vacuum solenoid), just tape the connectors. You will get codes/SES for the EGR solenoid, no EGR flow detected, and no AIR flow. As long as their is a good fuse in the AIR relay circuit, the fact the pump is not connected will not set a code. The codes need to be “programmed out” of the PCM.
