Normal burnout lenght from a stop?

Im debateing on if my car has something wrong with it, or im just crazy.

If im completely stopped and I floor it in drive, it cherps the tires a very little bit, then takes off. Is this normal or should I be smokein the tires. I got p235 55r 16's on it good year eagle HR's, rear had something like 30psi, I aired them up to 40 psi today and theres no difference. Is something wrong or am I just used to the car now?

2.73s won't be aggressive off the line. There are so many variables that might allow/not allow tire spin that it is almost impossible to say what it should do.

Iv tried it in several condictions, still the same unless its raining lol. Maybe im just used to the car, and my 3.73's are hinting at me to put them in. I don't know if I have the correct knowledge or tools to do it, and I dont want to screw up the rear.

You have an automatic, which I'm guessing is a lot harder to burn out tires than a manual (i.e. cluth drop). Then again, when I step on it just rolling I go sideways... Putting in 3.73's would probably make your tires peel out more, but then again I like to hook with my car imho. I'd expect you'd need more bolt ons and probably a torque converter.

Yes theres no dout I need/want more power and toys, but it seems like it "used" to be more powerful, maybe im just used to it. I'm definently not going sideways if I punch it.

back when my car was stock with 2.73's I used to do some sweet burnouts by just flooring it, with good tires too

Flooring it and not turning the wheels? If I turn the wheels I can really start burning, but if im straught, theres no way.

Hows your compression? My wifes 3.8 burns the tires if you floor it from a dead stop, and its an auto. My LT-1 stick can go for about a 100ft on a clutch drop. If your cam is real worn (which i doubt, because its a roller), or you have low compression, your engine will have ***** from a roll, but not much on the start.

I had a 93 A4 w/ 107k and if the car was straight and I power braked it and stomped on it, it would burn out for maybe 10 yards and hook. It had catback,intake,1.6rr's, cutout. Once of the cylinders was a little low on compression and it burned oil even after replacing valve stems. You probably have low compression, from old rings. W/ my 96 lt1 m6 w/ 35k on it will smoke the **** out of the tires until the 1-2 shift.

I'd do a full tuneup: new plugs/wires/air filter then see if it can light em up.

Is the car in good mechanical tune? Is there anything that could be out of sorts that leads you to believe that it is down on power?

You either have real sticky tires, real sticky pavement or your down on torque. Back when my A4 was stock with 2.73's I had no problem igniting the rear tires. Of coarse the tires were cheap, but they had good tread for a little while atleast.
