non vented opti question
non vented opti question
I am trying to find out on the opti dowel, what position the flat spot on the dowel is pointing when I have TDC on #1 piston, without taking off the timing cover to look at the cam gear...
I know it is only to fit one way, but I replaced the opti and the engine turns over slow to start and pings after 1/2 throttle, which tells me I am running advanced...
I know on vented, with the cam dowel, the cam pin points at the 9 o'clock position with #1 at TDC... Is the non-vented the same??
Now looking at the opti, when the rotor is pointing at #1 on the dist cap( I found it with a ohm meter), the flat spot is at the 12 o'clock...
Any suggestions????? Buy the way new plugs,wires,coil,ICM...

Dude I think it's almost impossible to tell with the non vented opti. When you put the opti driveshaft on how can you even really see the dowel pin? Guess I can't remember cuz when my opti bunked out I went straight to the vented one.
