no start

on my buddies 95Z there is now power being sent to the purple solenoid wire on the starter. When you turn the ignition to the crank position the radio turns off and acts like it is working, and the clutch switch is good. the secruity light goes on then comes off. WHat else can I test or look at? what wire under the dash should I check to see if its getting power when the ignition is in crank position.

any help would be appreciated

Re: no start

Put power directly to the starter with a jumper cable. If it still won't crank, take out the plugs and try it again. If that helps, the problem will be obvious. If it doesn't the starter is bad.

Re: no start

the starter will crank when jumped the purple wire that sends the signal to start is not getting any juice when the key is in crank. I'm running out of ideas.

Re: no start

If the security light even comes on at all, that means the TDM is shutting off the signal to the TDR. If your stuck for use of the vehicle, jump the yellow to the purple wire on the TDR. Be careful, the engine will start whether you have the clutch in or not and even if it's in gear.

You can also eliminate the key and it's contacts being the problem by putting a resistor in the orange wrapped harness at the base of the steering column. Get a resistor the same value as the key pellet. Put it in the harness side going away from steering column. If the resistor helps, the problem is either the contacts in the cylinder or the key or a combination of both. I did the resistor thing about 2 years ago and eliminated all the problems.
