No O2 sensors

How badly will my Z-28 suck if I drive it with no O2 sensors? (I have plugs for the bungs.) I'd take them out so they didn't get slammed with carbon. Just a hypothetical question...kinda...

If it does run at all it will be horrible getting progressivly worse and worse.

Ah, alright. Thanks!

Depends.... its going to stay in open loop. If you are trying to see if the O2 sensors are at fault with your current problems, it should answer the questions. Pull the connectors off, and reset the PCM by pulling the "PCM BAT" fuse. If everything on the engine is "right", it should run decently. This will eliminate issues caused by misfires, exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors, faulty O2 sensor wiring and the sensors themselves. If any of these are what it causing your problem, it may run better without the sensors connected. And if it does, its not going to get "worse and worse".

On the other hand, if the O2 sensors are trying to correct for a problem like incorrect fuel pressure, faulty MAF readings, etc, it is not going to run well at all, and it may get "worse and worse" as the plugs continue to foul, for example.

As an experiment to help locate the source of any engine problems, it will be worth doing.

Well I ran with both O2 sensors unplugged a few days ago and the car runs fine, although it smells rich.

I have been running my street strip car in open loop for about a year now with no issues, but it does run rich. The reason I run in open loop is because it begans to surges the second it hits closed loop for some reason and I can not fiqure out?
