You need some ported heads... they'll put a huge grin across your face.. i ran 106.9mph with

cc305 220/230 .544 .544 112lsa cam
stock heads
borla exhaust
hooker long tubes and no cats
mail order tune
cold air, pulley, 1le driveshaft, tb bypass
M6 lt4 clutch with 3.42 gears

Florida summer evening at 88 degrees or so and humid.
i did not know it at the time but the knock sensor was pulling max timing because of the noisy roller rockers.

I dont know what the car did after the tune/ stage 2 LE heads, xe230/236, 52mm TB, and electric water pump but it was faster than stock 2003-2004 cobras.

Your mph still seems alittle low... course like u said maybe its the torque converter... i'd invest in a dyno tune also if your keeping that set up.. after my heads i didnt dyno tune and blew up the engine. i deactivated the knock sensor... was slowing me down....
Your ET's kick *** though.

The low MPH is from the converter AND (moreso) the shifting problem. It's almost a first to third 1/4 mile pass. I'm getting an SES right off the launch, and it goes out on the 1-2 shift. If my laptop wasn't fried, I'd be able to scan it.

The car was dyno-tuned two weeks ago by Bryan Herter from PCMforless.com at Xotic Motorsports.

I know the heads are a major restriction in the combo right now, but I'd like to see how far I can go in the meantime. Thanks for the input!

Hey, if you want I can pull up a copy of the 94+ Datamaster definition file and we can scan your car with my laptop. Just drop me a note if you want to give it a shot.

Joe, do you mind sharing your dyno numbers?

Sure.

After three pulls and a new tune each time, I managed a whopping 293HP / 306TQ...

It was 94-degrees at the time of the pulls.

.

I was wondering if you manually shift because that is how I got my best times with the few mods I have. I have an A4 tranny and I wind it out to 5100rpm then shift. What is the difference in that and how you shift yours? I am wondering if I might could be doing something different/better? I have ran it in 1/4 mi. a few times and I am getting 13.2-13.4s. Thanks.

Mustang dyno? If thats dynojet then thats about 30-40rwhp low despite the heat. Heat hurts, but not by that much. Something isnt right there. What was your A/F? How was your timing?

It was on a Dynojet. Bryan from PCMforless was doing the programming, and he said the a/f is right where it needs to be. I haven't gotten the chart yet, but when I do, I will post it.

The problem is the converter. He tried to lock the converter @ WOT, but the PCM didn't listen. It's one of the loosest converters he has ever seen. The HP plot looks like a torque plot...it's unbelievable.

I need to off the converter as soon as possible. I'm losing MPH because of it also.

wow, and ive never heard anything bad about midwest converters. your times speak for a problem though.

out of curiosity, why did you go to 3:42s from the 3.73s when it broke?

I was there and can verify this. It was crazy, the thing was just blowing straight through the converter.

Because I wanted my car to be ready for an f-body BBQ that I've been putting together for several months. I bought a take-off 3.42 rear four days before the BBQ/track on Sunday. I'll go back to 3.89s when I install my 9".

Hey Sean, think you can make it to Camaros vs. Mustangs at E-town on the 24th?

I'm not sure at this point. I'm carrying the phone that weekend for wing scheduling, and will be on call all weekend. That, coupled with the fact that the car won't be ready to race by any means, sets me up for a probably not at this point in time.

I would hope for 12 flats. I went 12.2's @ 110 with a hotcam and stock heads with bigger valves. I could only cut a 1.75 60ft time. You should be 12.0's or 11.90's. Are you heads stock?

The heads have never been off the car, ever. Even for a head-gasket swap.

I'd like to see a high 11-sec. pass, but I don't know how feasible that is...kind of out of reach if you ask me.

I wouldn't say that. Depends on how well the new converter works for ya. I remember Atljar (can't remember the spelling) went 11.9X with a GM847, so with the Auto/Stall you should be able to eek off the line without grenading your rear, enough at least to hook it up some. I think you could do it.
