New flywheel or resurface the old???
 

Now that I got turned of by the RAM clutch, I will probably go with the SPEC stage 3. I saw on their website that they offer flywheels, it think one was @ $250-300. Would I be better off purchasing a new one or will the stock flywheel work just as good resurfaced.

I drag race possibly 4-5 times a year. You can see in my sig what my mods are and the LT4 kit will be in the near future (should I upgrade the flywheel)

I think you should save your money and just get your flywheel turned. It only costs $20-$30.

Well while I was in there I went ahead and replaced the stock fly wheel, mainly because I am looking for a quicker rev. SLP Steel billet, it weighs about 15lbs, very light. IMO you won't loose as much HP to the wheels, but that is my opinion (every little bit helps). It made a big difference in the way the car accelerated in each gear, and it does not effect drive ability as far as I can tell. The slp steel billet fly wheel and the Spec stage 3 are a good combination for both driveability and for the dragstrip. Its cheaper to resurface the fly wheel, yet while you have it apart it would benefit you to just buy a lighter, better one.

I had my stock flywheel resurfaced when I installed the SLP clutch and it's worked fine. The lighter steel flywheel would be nice for quicker rev's and possibly more hp but I didn't want to spend the extra $350 for it at the time. If I got back and upgrade the disc one of these days I will probably go with a lighter flywheel.

While we are on the subject guys , I just got a clutch and a flywheel for my car , I have not put them in yet , My flywheel is a billet steel centerforce weighing in 35lb's do you think this is going to slow my car down ? Some have told me that it will increase track times because all the inercia that it creats so i was wondering if anyone here has installed anything similar ?

You are not going to notice any major differance from your stock flywheel to a marginally lighter one. The inertia stored in a flywheel is what will benefit you at the dragstrip although it will hurt throttle response. I think your $$ would be better spent elsewhere.
