Need thoughts

If you guys were running CC 306 cam, which springs would you use the Comp springs or patriot springs.....Just wondering which spring is the better of the two for the money........

I really need to know which way to here, which springs are the best and would match the best

dangalla Sep 8, 2007 02:55 PM

just get the pac 1218 or 1518

Well, AFAIK Comp doesn't make their own springs. Patriot is one the three companies that essentially makes them all. PAC makes a lot of the Comp springs and I have heard (but am not sure) that Patriot also manufactures for Comp. So, as to which is better the answer is that if they have the same specs and materials, they may well be the same and the answer is "neither".

Comp is on my **** list with the beehive debacle. They may be getting lots of their springs Hecho in Mexico now and that worries me. That issue aside, I'd concentrate on getting a spring with the right specs* more than the name on the box.

"Too much" spring is always better than too little, BTW.

Patriot doesn't make springs.

PAC hasn't made Comps in over a year. PAC = old reliable beehive.

They are custom manufactured for them. There are only a handful of companies that actually make their own springs. PAC, Associated Spring, PSI, NHK, Mathew Warren.

Most cam and head companies buy and re-package springs from one of these companies.
