need some help! ignition issues.... grrr!!!

went to fire the car back up and nothing!!!! unplugged the msd 6AL harness to the coil, and plugged stock harness into the coil. car then fired right up(killed the MSD6AL box ).

head out for a drive to the local cruise night. take my time getting there. driving it very nicely. i rolled into it once in second an the motor did not want to rev, like it was wanting to stall. i also noticed my tach and speedo needle doing a dance across the full perimeter of travel! whoa!!! needless to say i made within a block of my house and the car died car cranks fine, alternator i believe is working fine????

i had all of the wiring disconnected for a couple of weeks, my guess is a loose ground.

any suggestions would be appreciated, i also believe i killed my msd coil as well? i will start trouble shooting tonight.

After our discussion this morning I spoke with
our resident electrical guru's.

"Based on the info given and the symptoms,
you have an poor ground somewhere"

If you have any more relevant details let me know
and I'll run it by them.

I agree it sounds like a bad ground.
I'd check the MSD ground first and work from there.

Kevin,

I believe that as well ,and or also a loose power wire somewhere. that should at least be relatively easy to trace. i posted th same topic on ls1tech, to get some feedback from those guys to, they also said the same thing, and one guy said he had the same thing and his alt. power wire was loose, hmmmm. i will start there.

msd ground, i will as well, but i am sure that is ok, but maybe not. i have fried my msd 6al, twice due to loose grounds never again :)

thanks guys!

:( oh well, no luck so far! found one ground loose, tightened it.... i even reinstalled my knock module, i took it off because i don't need it anyway.

could it be my optispark? damn it only has 9000 miles on it???? wtf! i am so sick of this ****! lol!!!! roman came over, we pulled one of the wires, threw a plug on it and held it against the block, roman said at full crank i was getting about one spark per second? can anyone respond to that? is that about right? damn, i am at a loss. before Roman came over it did start. as i mentioned the only thing i did was tighten the ground. i wonder if the DFI would tell me if i have a problem with the optispark?

we did hammer the balancer onto the crank on the motor, the banging wouldn't hurt the opti would it?

this is the first time i have had an issue with the opti, i have to ask what are symptoms if it is toast? i will do a search to see what i can find.

latest update, well the car starts regularly now. i found a wire that was not very well but connected, this was done a few years back. anyhow, i went for a short cruise and unfortunately the car makes NO power, i can't really say it is stuttering, maybe but really hard to say. i am going to pull the opti and tear it apart, i hope i can get this figured out before n vs s!

i also pulled and cleaned all of the plugs they were fouled all to hell!! that i think is a sign that the opti is on the way out the door.

I might have damaged the optical sensor when i reinstalled the opti on the motor last week? only thing i can think of that would have caused it.

i am going to go for a ride later with the laptop and see what i can owith the DFI.
