Need some help with double roller and OBDII
 

My problem is that I'm putting everything back together for the cam install and I'm not sure what to do with the crank sensor plate. It appears as though the crank sensor plate is going to rub the double roller timing chain if that makes sense. Do I need to modify the plate in some way or do I need to get rid of it completely and have it programmed out? Your help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

They make a shim that goes in place of that reluctor ring.
We didn't use the shim (didn't know about it at the time) or the reluctor ring since it rubs the chain, when we did my friends conversion and the car still runs good. We may put a shim in when we do the heads/cam next month though.

Oh, and this was an OBDII motor converted to OBD1 so that sensor wasn't even being used. Not sure what needs to be done with an OBDII car.

I made my own shim on my last combo. It has no effect that I know of with driveability with the CPS not working.

So I can just make a shim and it should run fine? I know the CPS is just supposed to read misfires, but I'd really rather not have an SES light or anything. Anybody else have any input. I appreciate the help guys, thanks.

I measured the width of the reluctor ring and it was nearly the same width the double roller chain added so I just left it out..I did have to grind the crap out of the timing cover though..Im running a Edelbrock Double roller also..

If you use the Cloyes double roller set, the gears are wider, but they are back cut so they stick out the same distance as the stock gear (which Cloyes manufactures for GM BTW). The reluctor ring is .100" thick, which means you will need a spacer of the same thickness, or a pre 96 crank hub. I've got my hub on order from GM Parts Direct at the moment since I shredded both my belts when I started the car with the new cam. Doh! :mad:
