Need some help...

Ok my car ran 13.98 last year at the St Thomas dragstrip, it was all stock not touched at all. I went their tonight, and the FASTEST it went was a 14.87. This is with a Moroso CAI on it.

Here is what i think is wrong

a)octane boost didnt work
b)fuel injector cleaner scrwed it
c)a and b together scrweed it
d) spark plugs fouled since I havent changed them they are the same ones that I stored it with

Any suggestions, I told my friends how I was hoping for a 13.7 now they all think Iam full of ****....

Please help!

Perhaps some more rudamentary problems are the cause. You said you did the first comparison run last year. What has happened to the car since then? Changed tires or perhaps wore the same tires down more? Perhaps dirtied the air filter more with normal use and didn't check it? Temperature differences and air density differences from one run to the next? How about warm up proceedures from one night to the next? Most people over oil the cotton filters, perhaps your engine was choking for air? How about the storage time. Perhaps the fuel was stale and fouled up the fuel filter. Have you changed the filter recently?

I also didn't notice any mention of changing the rear. Burn outs on limited slip diff's are not good. Maybe your clutches aren't what they should be anymore???? I know nothing about diff's, maybe someone else can chime in here.

I don't think my rearend is a limited slip is it, I thought it was a full posi lock.
I will go to the track again with fresh plugs and fuel with no additives and change my burnout procedure and let you guys know what happens...

Limited slip is a type of posi.

What was the weather like both times you went?
What is the condition of your tires?
Did you put Stabil in your gas tank when you stored it to keep the gas from going bad?
Did you go through the same routine before your runs each time.

Just some things to think about.

The weather was the same both times I was there.
Tires are close to new condition.
No I didnt put anything in my gas tank when I stored it, but I have ran 3 tanks through it since bringing it out.
I changed my burnout routine thats all.

hmm,
are you getting a spark to all 8 I wonder?
The way your times dropped it kind of sounds like you may have a miss and only be running on 7 cylinders

check your plugs and wires first and do a compression test.
Seems kind of weird to have a problem like that with only 48k miles

Yeah no crap thats what I thought its wierd, but could of just been track conditions plus spark plus fuel, etc...

It's definately something that needs fixing.
check all the cheap things first (plugs, wires, compression test)

and, oh yeah, pray it's not the opti! But I don't think you have to worry about the opti going out with only 48k

Have you had anyone hook a scanner up to it yet to moniter it while it is running?
