Need opinions on clutch set up.

Ok I've been reading and reading into this... But I need some motivation in one way or the other... I've narrowed it down to 2 choices, Spec stage 4 or mcleod street twin. They'd be pretty damn close to being the same price since, I'll be getting a new flywheel either way. Any opinions? I don't have too many mods yet, but I've got a date with a couple heads and a cam coming up in a few months. Thanks for any input.

Have you driven cars with either of these clutches installed? I would strongly suggest doing so before you buy one. They are alot of work to drive, and very grabby. I would never put one of those in a car I was driving on the street regularily. If you plan to do mostly 1/4 mile runs, go for it.

Spec stage 3 is kinda streetable, but still a big change. I've never driven the Mcleod.

I have the SLP clutch in mine. It feels stock, and holds a bit better. It is great for the street on a mildly modified car. I wouldnt put it in a racecar, though.

It all depends on your application, how much power you will be making and what type of driving you will be doing.

not streetable?? I have the street twin, drives stock and never lets go. yes, it's a little harder to push in put I would never say it was unstreetable. I vote for the street twin, dual disks allow it to feel stock yet it will hold very well.

LOL spec stage 4... you would think that oh stage 1 and stage 2 are probably really weak, stage 3 is about average, and stage 4 is what I need... Oh how wrong that logic is, I had a stage 3 ceramic before my SLP clutch and that thing was so grabby it did not slip unless you gave it a ton of gas a revved it high - it was basically engaged or not engaged with nothing inbetween. I can only image the stage 4... I think the stage 4 disc doesn't even have springs on it, jeeze, you do not want that on the street, trust me. You will get sick of driving and start cussing, especially if you get caught in traffic.

The SLP clutch is decent but it's merely a stock disc with an LT4 pressure plate. It holds my power without a hitch but I think that one I get this rear end installed and get some slicks or do any more major mods it will start to have problems. A Stage 2 kevlar is more of what you are looking for but if you have the money, there is no choice, get a street twin.

I completely agree. i tried going with a spec stage 3 and it was seriously not for an everyday car. just my personal opinion! easing off the clutch at a stop sign/light or driving in traffic becomes non-existance. its just as 96ws6 described, go or dont go. no easing to it. at least not without out a little shaking. i hated it seeing as how it was my everyday driver. however, i would like to point out that my quadricep and calf on my left leg is in great shape. now it matches my right leg from stomping on the gas so much!! if your going to be using this car frequently, i would consider something more practical.
