need help with LT's
hey i got some hooker ceramic coated long tubes on the way and was wondering about how much they'd cost to have put in? and also if there is anything i should worn the shop about before doing? also what all do i need to give the shop before the install like O2 bunges(idk?) maybe some caps, idk what those do? kinda new to this long tube and emissions stuff. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. what should i try to do about my brake lines? i already got the link to the spark plug wires so i should be ok there. i'm not worried about emissions at all, should i send my computer into pcmforless and take off the emission thing? thanks again
You'll need header and collector gaskets and bolts. I would suggest 1" long stage 8 header bolts and might as well put a set of stage 8 collector bolts on. You may need O2 sensor harness extensions depending on how far back from the stock location your O2 sensors will be. If you have a higher mileage car you might want to put in some new O2 sensors while your at it. Is this shop also going to do the exhaust? If they can custom fab a y-pipe and get it hooked up to your cat back that would be ideal. If not you may need to provide them with a y-pipe. If you use a Mufflex y-pipe it ends up in a 4" pipe. Most cat-backs are 3" pipe so you may need a 4-3" reducer. It may be necessary to remove the oil filter to install the headers. If so you might give them a new filter and some oil. I would give them new plugs and wires as well. On my LT's I moved a few wires around but nothing major and did not do anything with the break lines. No problems yet. Definitely get your computer reprogrammed for the emissions. I'm not sure what year car you have but if it is OBDII (96-97) I would do a OBDI conversion PCM from http://www.madz28.com/ . Ion does good work. I would also suggest Thunder Racing http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...ategoryid=1052 for a lot of the miscellaneous items you might need.
Hope this helps,

If your headers do not have EGR and AIR provisions you will need to install a block off plate for the EGR pipe. If you do that you might as well pull off the EGR valve itself and replace it with a block off plate. You could also pull off the AIR pump. You could then remove a few no longer needed vacuum lines and servos, which would require an assortment of vacuum caps. If your interested in doing this a search here on the EGR and AIR system removals should help you to figure out how to go about it.
