Need header plugs for AIR tube holes

I've removed the AIR injection from my 95LT1 Trans Am. It has the BBK headers which have outlets for the AIR tube to screw in. I need a plug or bolt that will fit the threads. Anyone know what size I need, and where to order it from?

Thanks

Jason

Anyone else? I'm sure I'm not the only one to run into this.

This website is often given out:

http://www.cgenterprises.com/drain_plugs_metric.htm

Although you should be able to find them locally. Hit a random quickie oil change place, and ask them for oil drain plugs in the size you need.

Better double check the threads here to make sure the BBK headers take a 22mm before shopping for them.

I paid $2.50 each for M22-1.5 oil drain plugs, plus 98-cents for a couple of copper washer to seal them.

On the remote chance that your 95 is a "CA emissions" A4, it will have the M18 threads that were used in the 96/97 dual cat cars, rather than the M22's for the single cat cars.

Measure the fittings you unscrewed from the headers. If they are about 7/8" diameter, they are M22. If they are closer to 11/16", they are M18.

Well, I got a thread guage, and it turns out that it is NOT metric. I measured the diameter with a micrometer.

The actual size is: 7/8" x 18 thread pitch, which is very close to 22mm x 1.50. So, I ordered 2 from CG enterprises for $5.95 each.

Thanks anyway

I would double check your gauge. i used english threads before and I had to use wrench to crank them in and out. i popped in the metric ones after and I could thread them in by hand.

The guage was right - I double and triple checked.. I'll post up whether or not they fit right. I even tried the 1.5 thread guage, and it was clearly off. The 18 guage fit perfectly, though. We'll see in about 1 week or so.

When I pulled the AIR connections out of my AS&M's, they were so tight they were deforming inside the wrench - and they had only been in there for a few months. When I then screwed the M22-1.5 plugs in, they fit perfectly, with no binding. If they are the wrong size, they are a pretty decent substitute... but do it any way you want to, its your car.
