Much of a difference?
my car right now has a gutted cat with stock cat. back. I bought a stock y-pipe and almost new cat from madwolf to bolt on so I can just pass emissions. What I want to know is what difference would I notice in sound and hp/tq gain/loss with the gutted cat and stock cat. back compared to a normal cat and a cutout. Where do you guys put your cut out??
bought the stock y-pipe attached to the cat so it is easier to bolt on and off...I like the sound of the gutted cat, so i can just bolt my y-pipe and gutted cat back on after the emissions test. I'm just curious what I might notice with a cut out and full catalytic converter compared to a gutted cat and stock cat. back
The cat you bought from me was a high-flow 3" cat. (Carsound)
It's emission legal and it won't reduce your performance..at least not noticeable. I actually bought it to replace the gutted cat I used to have for a few days.

Actually no. I just hated the tractor sound of the gutted cat.
So I guess I didn't explain correctly. The original cat was bad so I gutted it. Had it for a few days, didn't like it and then bought the high-flow one.

I replaced my hi-flow cat w/ a cutout a couple weeks ago. The sound is more raspy w/ the cutout capped and it seems to pull a little harder in the upper rpms. Now w/ the cutout open the car sounds downright mean. I like it a lot and now I have the option of running open headers. I have yet to drive around w/ it uncapped and can't wait to go to the track next week.

That's right FacelessZ. I got pulled over by a state trooper for no front tag the same day I had the cutout installed. I do a lot of highway driving and the last thing I need right now is a trooper snooping around and asking me questions about my exhaust. Ah what the hell I'll go ahead and uncap it this weekend.
