I think the Accel uses the same optical pick up as the oem one. The MSD uses a much better pick up. I say the MSD will be mucho better.

Re: MSD Optispark 83811 Delayed

I talked to MSD at SEMA this year, and they told me then it wouldnt be until april/may at the EARLIEST.

I would blame Jegs/Summit for putting them up on preorder more so than MSD not being true to their word

As for the Accel piece, kinda looked like a repackaged stock unit to me and doesnt include the pigtail. (75 bucks alone there)

I liked the description of the accel unit at summit, "with easy to follow directions" For a pain in the **** job. And all you NA guys stop complaining. I have to pull my vortech off to change the DS plug wires let alone the opti.

The pigtail from the main wiring harness that drops down and plugs into the top of the opti. GM gets 70 or 80 bucks for it, and its just 4 wires and a connector.

If you are switching from the non vented to vented you need one, or they do get corrosion in them from time to time too and need replaced.

Then I already have one...mine is a 95Z.

I agree the MSD is a nicer unit...but saving 200 bucks means more money to go elsewhere. By next year it won't be my daily driver so whatever can hold me over until it gets parked for weekends is kewl.

from the pics, they don't look like they seal better than OEM against water.
does anyone know if they do seal better? or does everyone here use silicone to seal the cap to the distributor?
