Because it is just the cap and rotor.

Right. They have not even made it to market (though they have been listed in everyone's catalogs for months).

Re: msd distributor

Everyone is right first it is just a cap and rotor not a whole new unit like you seem to be comparing it too so no big suprize it is cheaper, and second Summit began taking orders and magazines began ads and plugging the thing nearly a year ago yet not a one has been delivered to the public. The claims of it's superiority to the stock parts are unfounded and irresponsible AT BEST.

Re: msd distributor

I have yet to see or hear anything about these units. Most of my friends and family haven't even bothered with a new cap and rotor with their Optis. Instead, they have moved up to bigger and better things like the Delteq or the Dynaspark. Personally, I am saving my nickels and dimes for the Dynaspark unit.

Search after search, board after board I still cant get enough info to gather what's best between the delteq and the dynaspark. Why are you going Dynaspark?

Re: msd distributor

First I have heard about any MSDs being delivered and I would encourage lots more research before anyone buy a dynaspark it is mostly stock parts, if looking to spend that kind of money go to one of the multicoil setups. That said the opti is MUCH better than it is i given credit for.

Yes it's made of stock parts but if those stock parts are put together better than what we have then what? I just want something that will last and can take a beating. I understand your point but from the research Ive done all the other options end up costing more because you will need other stuff. For example the ltcc or whatever comes out to be more once you get all you need, I read a thread where the delteq required a dis-4 or something, etc etc. The Dynatech honestly seems like the only way someone on a budget can upgrade without spending to much. If I'm mislead or misinformed please correct me because as Ive said before Im in the market to upgrade.

Re: msd distributor

Yeah really guys, whats so bad about the opti? If you have an electric water pump, then you no longer have the threat of the factory water pump leaking all over it. My opti has lasted 84,000 miles now. I replaced it last week since my water pump has been leaking for a few months now. I was surprised how good of shape the old opti was in still when iI took it apart. New opti, and electrip wp, I'm all set for a long time now.
