MSD 6AL Question

I tried searching but didn't find what I needed.

Well, my buddy has a 6AL that has a burnt board on after his buddy tried jump-starting his super-sweet 11.40 383 stroker S-10.

MSD is fixing it right now and I have the opportunity to buy it fixed for $100.

It comes with all the wires, but he was using it for a carb'd car.

Will this work for my car?
How do I hook it up?
I know MSD has a plug-and-play harness, but is that for this?
What else am I going to have to buy?
Is this a good idea?

I run N20 so I need a better ignition, and I already have a window switch so the digital box isn't necessary....also, it isn't $100 lol.

Lemme know guys, cause he will prolly throw it on eBay if I don't let him know sometime in the next few days.

Johnny

Re: MSD 6AL Question

yes, it will work, you don't NEED the harness, but it is a little cleaner(no cutting/splicing the factory harness)

the MSD PN for the harness you need is 8876

Re: MSD 6AL Question

Sounds good!!

I'm not expecting any horsepower gains because I don't drive a car with a fart can, buuuuut....what benefits am I looking at here besides a more amplified spark? PS~ If this sounds stupid, captain morgan and I set sail awhile back and yeah...so...take it easy k?

Re: MSD 6AL Question

Personally, I don't think it is worth a 100 bucks as you won't gain anything major from it. The only reason why I bought my Mallory ignition box was for the simple fact that it had both a built in window switch and timing retard function that I use for my nitrous setup. Otherwise, the box hasn't served me any other purpose.
