I use Royal Purple in my Z. I think it works really well. They did a fluids swap on Horsepower TV with it in an LS1- engine, tranny, and rear end. They got a 10rwhp gain just from changing the fluids. I don't know if I got that, but earlier this year I changed the tranny and rear end fluids in my Camaro with the Royal Purple stuff, already been using it for the engine, and I certainly have no complaints. It's pretty expensive, $6 a quart, but I'd say it's worth it.

Whaddyado drink this stuff---imho, orl is orl and today's lubricants should do the trick on just about anything you've got...on the other hand, if you believe that one is far superior to another, god bless ya. JMHO

If it was my car I would put in some good quality dino oil--10w-40 along with a good filter and change it regularly. The higher the miles the more the wear--the more the wear the sloppier movings parts get. So in order to keep up the oil pressure, lessen the rocker noise and prolong the engine, I'd steer clear of light weight synthetics and have the piece of mind that comes with knowing that the oil you are using is not going to be the culprit for engine failure. JMHO

Oh c'mon guys. You can "feel" a difference in the way your car performs by switching oil brands? I can see how one might notice a change going from a very low to a very high viscosity oil, or vice versa. But otherwise, I sure don't buy it.
I am certain there are signficant differences between oil brands. What I am not sure of is how you find an unbiased source of information that would allow you to determine which oil is "best". Or, for that matter, what constitutes a better oil. Wear, horsepower, intervals between changes, what? Dyno testing does reveal that thinner (lower viscosity) oils make more power. And even within the same viscosity rating, there are small differences in power between brands. And at the same viscosity, synthetics make a small amount of power over dino juice. But we are talking about quite small differences.
I don't use synthetic in either my race car or street cars and never had a problem I could attribute to oil. That's in 40y of working on, driviing, and racing on a variety of wide variety of motor vehicles (karts, drag racing, road racing, motorcycles). I could see the logic of extended change intervals and synthetic. But they way most people use them (frequent changes) really makes no sense.
