missing at idle and while driving
missing at idle and while driving
Ok my car was in storage for a few weeks. I drove it around for a bit and the car drove fine. With no missing or bucking. Than i took it to my house and shut it off. Than went back out to start it back up to go to work. The car started to miss as i keep the gas at the same speed. Than i would hit the gas and it started to buck and the rpms would jump around. So I took it back to my storage till i had some time to play around with it again.
Today i went over to see if it was still doing it. It sure is still doing it. I started it up and i can hear a miss as it idles to let it warm up. I am getting no codes in my scanmaster. The SP on the scanmaster is ranging from 37 to 40. Also the blms are 117 left and 120 right. Any ideas
Also i noticed the tube coming out of the throttle body right side of the motor had some oil on it and the valve cover where that tb hose. This is on the right side valve cover. Any idea
Can someone give me some ideas where to start?

Re: missing at idle and while driving
yeah, I've had this problem before, and it caused me ALOT of headaches. I'll list them in order from what you should do first, also from least expensive to replace.
1) check all your wires, make sure they aren't arcing
2) plugs
3) disconnect aftermarket ignition if you have one
4) EGR
5) disconnect MAF, run speed density, see if it helps
6) vacuum leaks, fuel pressure check
7) o2 sensors(only if it happens in closed loop), disconnect them run force open loop, see how it runs
8) ICM, do cooling mod
9) fuel injector test
10) OPTI time

you can use the injector test light to make sure each injector is getting a firing votage. Also, you can measure the resistance of each injector.
