Meziere water pump(relay wiring confirmation)
Ok i just bought a relay kit for my electric water pump wiring. And i would need confirmation that im not doing anything wrong.
So my relay connection goes like this:
-Pin number 30 = Power source - connected diretcly to the battery.
-Pin number 85 = Ground of the relay - connected to the chassis.
-Pin number 86 = Relay activation reference - connected to the orange wire wich is the cooling fan power line in the engine bay fuse box.
-Pin number 87 = Pump ground - connected to the ground wire of the pump.
-Pin number 87a = Not used - we dont care
Am i missing something or i just done it correctly ?
Do i need to ground the pump itself directly to the chassis?(dont think so but...)
Thank you

I think you may have 85 and 86 reversed
Grounding to chassis is fine, the chassis is "grounded" to the battery
Just make sure it's got a clean contact.

Re: Meziere water pump(relay wiring confirmation)
Hmm if i check my realy the pin 85 comes with a black wire on the harness and on that drawing that i found it suppose to be the ground, but i can be wrong you know.(i know thas a csr pump but a realy is a relay )

As far for the pump do i need to ground it to the relay and to the chassis or grounded to the relay only is just fine?

Thge relay uses ground to build a circuit between the switch trigger and ground.
When there is an adequate voltage difference between the two, the switch "flips" and
completes the second circuit. The second circuit being the one that powers your pump.

And the link that you gave me solved the other wiring question. The pin 85 and 86 can work on either way.
When energizing the coil of a relay, polarity of the coil does not matter unless there is a diode across the coil. If a diode is not present, you may attach positive voltage to either terminal of the coil and negative voltage to the other
Example:
85: ground
86: Relay activation reference
or can be inverted
85: Relay activation reference
86: ground
I trully thank you

I'm going to be using a combination of the two I think.

I may have missed it, but what is the part number and manufacturer of the relay everyone is using for the electric water pumps? Also, where to buy the relay. Thanks,

Re: Meziere water pump(relay wiring confirmation)
Just a generic 12V automotive relay.
Any autoparts store should have one.
I bet most radio shack and walmart-type places have them too.
