I just want to thank everyone who devotes their time, energy, and attention to the countless people who browse these boards (LT1 specifically for me, but I'm sure it's just as great for everyone else). I cannot express enough gratitude for the help everyone has been in dealing with my LT1.

I was a first time car buyer 6 months ago. Knew I wanted a Z, and found a covertible I fell in love with. Only problem was, I didn't know a thing about cars. Long story shorter, horrible knock that I hadn't the slighest clue how to fix. (the infamous, someones knockin at your door knock) I had taken my car to a shop, and sure enough.. new engine. Three weeks later I picked my car up, because they hadn't even started. (after they told me a week, tops) I was pissed... but it gave me some motivation to try something new (and I'm a huge DIYer to begin with). So, after readin the 'how to rebuild lt1/lt4' book and finding this board, I found the nerve to embark upon rebuilding my own engine. (now, the only thing I've ever done is change oil and plugs up to this point).

Two months from start to finish (work permitting, hehe). (I kept everything stock, except for a trans-go no crazy stuff yet)

So tonight, I bolted up the y-pipe, hooked up the endless loop of sensors, and ran her. I can honestly say, one of the most happiest moments in my life. I owe alot of the credit to the people on this board. Thanks guys. You guys are great, and the knowledge that gets shared is better than any shop, any book, and any discount/napa/autozone clerk could ever fathom.

Great story. I know that I didn't help you out, but it was still cool to read your success. What a great way to learn about your new Z28.

Congratulations dude! There's nothing like tearing apart an engine and putting it back together, then firing it up for the 1st and hearing it run and thinking to yourself, "wow...I did it all by myself"! :thumb:

200 miles and still purrrin... I'm so happy.

O, couldn't do any mods, because I have absolutely no $$$ (only enought for the essentials), and I never got to appreciate her, bone stock.

So it was the motor then...I remember the post. Anyway I know how you feel. if it wasnt for this board I'd be up the creek. I had the knock also and ended up rebuilding my whole motor, P&P'n the head my self and stroking it from not knowing a thing. The guys here are the greatest.
