Max Rev 383 LT1?
Max Rev 383 LT1?
I have a all forged 383 (heads and cam) The cam specs are 240/240 595/595 112. I know this cam is supposed to be reved kinda high in order to make some good power. What is a safe limit to be reeving the car to? The car right now has never seen anymore than 6k. I am just trying to prevent a spun bearing. Thanks guys!
Since you have a forged rotating assembly 6500 would be safe as long as the springs are in good shape. I have a cast steel crank and I rev to 6500 pretty regularly.(hyp pistons as well)
Your bottom end doesnt mean much. It's all about your bearings, and the BALANCE job. With 4 bolt mains and a good balance, you should be able to turn 7,000+ without issue. I turn my balanced stock bottomed end to 6800 (2-bolt)
its all balanced and blueprinted, built by a Chevrolet Dealership. Not that I chose to get it built there, just that when I bought it from a friend he had gotten it built there. Not because they are better in any means, but because he knew someone that worked there. The thing I am scared about is that it is only a 2 bolt main.
