1995 LT1 oil pressure, video attached

Hey guys, I'm attaching a video of my oil pressure at hot idle, seems a little low to me, just want to see what you guys think. Thanks for the help!

Mileage and any background on the engine would be appropriate to disclose. Opinions would then be more meaningful. Low idle pressure is somewhat common on higher mileage LT1s (just due to engine bearing wear), but a tired o/p sending unit can also cause lower than normal pressure reporting.

Mileage is 111k, not too sure on the background of the motor, I've only owned the car for 2 weeks now, been going it trying to figure out what it needs. It does have the awesome rear intake manifold oil leak, haven't fixed that yet. It does seem to run and drive fine. This is the first car I've driven with an LT1, to me it pulls hard, just trying to get all the little stuff fixed before I start throwing mods at it. I did change the oil as soon as I got it, used Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30.

OP

assuming your gauge is accurate the assumption I make is the needle drops between 20 and red....so lets call that 10 psi. +/-

A "general" rule on OK oil pressure for SBC is 10 psi x 1000 rpm

So assuming your gage does indicate 10 psi at a idle lower than 1k rpm you are OK

You could attach a better OP gauge into the port just above oil filter to test/confirm what your dash gauge indicates

Ok, I have an aftermarket oil gauge around here somewhere, I may hook it up and see what it reads at. Also may replace the oil pressure sending unit. Thanks for the help guys!
