Man o Man! look what I found! I need help please (pics)
So I've had this clanking/knocking/tapping noise for a little while and I finally had enough. So I broke the engine do to the lifters to inspect all the parts, and here is what I found. This is the only lifter like this, all of the rest have worn perfectly smooth and normal. I'm wondering.. what do you guys think the cam lob will look like. And if I replace it... will it fix the problem?

This is from the exhaust lifter on cyl. #1. I couldn't get a flashlight to shine down the hole because the right side head was in the way. But I did put my finger down and feel the lob. It feels remarkably smooth; not perfect, but alot smoother than the lifter. I didn't intend to replace the cam.

I would bcuz your new lifter will probably have the same fate that your old one did. BTW, did you find out what the SES light was about?

You would be better off with a used Hot Cam (cheap), a set of low mileage used stock lifters (cheap), and a new set of decent valve springs. Plus a new stock timing chain and gears if money is tight, but don't leave that abused cam in your motor.
