LT1 Scanmaster worth the money?

I was reading up on a couple of websites. It seems like it is very usefull. But I dont know anyone runing one. So I dont know if its worth the money. For you guys who own, or have owned it, do you like it? And was it hard to install?

Thanks.

I would spend a few more bucks and go with the autotap with GM enhanced parameters.. You can see more live info and also veiw and erase trouble codes. Plus you can scan all other domestic vehicle's generic parameters/codes..also there is no installation just plug it into the diagnostic port ..Autotap

Autotap is only for OBD2 cars, I dont see what year car you have... Although there are plenty of other programs such as datamaster, freescan, etc. that you can use to get all of the information that you could get out of the scanmaster. You will have to buy a cable though and have a laptop, I think 75 or 95 dollars through akm cables.. not sure which one.

I for one am still going with the scanmaster due to the constant ability to read engine parameters, although I'm sure I'll end up with both eventually.

Wait... I think im wrong on the first part about having to buy a cable, maybe its in the package?

Its a 97 Formula. So its gunna be OBD-II.

Yea I like that the scanmaster gives you live readings with out a laptop or palm.

Complete install instructions, and user guidelines are included in my online ScanMaster writeup.

You are aware that the ScanMaster will not read the PCM trouble codes on OBD-II cars?

It'll show all the parameters of the ScanMaster for the 94 and 95 including knock retard but it just won't do the trouble codes.

Also, it won't tell you if the knock is false or not... you'll have to determine that with some of your own testing with race gas

As for if the ScanMaster is worth it? I say HECK YES!!! I have two and maybe about to have three. LOL! My bud has one and another bud has one because he anticipates getting an LT1 in the future. LOL!

The ScanMaster isn't the best troubleshooting tool (something like TTS Datamaster that can graph and record is better for troubleshooting) but for everyday monitoring, it can't be beat IMO.
