A major problem???

Ok. I got my intake ported and polished. The car didnt run for almost 2 months. I get the intake back on and get everything running great, for about 20 minutes. All of a sudden, I lost all oil pressure and the car shuts off. I changed the oil hoping it would help. I did gain some oil pressure and went off for a drive. The car wouldnt shift unless I was just barely pressing the gas, If I tried to accelerate, the car wouldnt go above about 3 grand and would not shift unless I let off of it. Again, very little oil pressure and no oil pressure at idle. The car would shut off at idle with no oil pressure. The car started to run hot, and would have overheated had I not shut it off. Any ideas on whats wrong? It did throw codes, however I cant scan it since it wont run and I cant get it to Auto Zone. Any ideas?????

Re: A major problem???

Just a thought (I hope this is not the case) but maybe there were still metal shavings in your intake when you got it back from the porting if it wasn't properly cleaned, and when you started the car back up the metal particles began circulating freely in your motor, causing damage and loss of oil pressure?

How did the oil look when you changed it?

Get it scanned ASAP for sure though, hope you get it fixed.

I had the intake cleaned by a machine shop and they guaranteed it clean. It looked brand new so I dont think thats the case. I am thinking that maybe some stuff got into the open cavity while the intake was off... or maybe some cleaner got into the oil and tore up the pump. The car does have like 140K miles so I think it was probably the pumps time to go.

If you get cleaner into your pump, you're not going to tear up the pump, they're pretty solid. You may have torn up some bearings though if there's cleaner or coolant in your oil.
