Mail order tune?

I have a question about a mail order tune. I am gonna run long tube headers and a off road y pipe. In my state there is no visual they only plug the scanner in to the obd2 port and check for codes and to make sure the monitors are ready. My state allows for 2 not readies. My question is can a mail order tune from PCMforless or ion, tune out the cats , egr, and air pump and still show it as being ready? I know they can tune for no check engine light but just wondering about the monitors being ready. Anyone have a tune from them with having the monitors as being ready with those things I listed as being deleted? Thanks for any help

In Nevada tuned out items show as 'Not equipped'. If you are unable to tune out 3 items and pass smog, you could run rear O2 simulators instead of de-tuning. The plug in place of the rear O2's and just show normal operation. I am not sure where to find these anymore however, a quick search didn't yield anything useful.

Also, I would only pull the EGR if your valve is bad or your headers don't have emissions fittings. There is no performance gain.

I would guess the topic is cost. High flow cats range between $1-200 each. Pricey if he can just detune and there isn't a visual inspection.

No visual just as long as there is no check engine light and the monitors show as ready I’m good. Car is gonna have long tubes , ory , 4.11 gears , 150 shot of nitrous , walbro pump , and drag radials for now. Then it’s gonna be a cam swap if the motor survives the nitrous.

Will the headers have emissions ports?

No I bought pacesetter with non emissions. But if there is a problem with the tune that I can’t get the monitors to show as ready I’m gonna have to get them with emissions stuff. Like I said I’m allowed 2 not ready to pass.

Right, but what I originally said was when my stuff is tuned out, it doesn't tell the smog equipment that it's not ready, it says not equipped. That may be different as each state has the ability to run different programs.

If this isn't a daily driver, I would tune out all of the stuff you don't want to run, then see if the car passes. You can decide what to do from there. It might be worthwhile to buy the tuning software so you can do some of this yourself.

OP

a tuner can set the IM monitors to show "ready" or "OK". Had my PCM set that way after Calif smog law changed to only allow 1 IM to show not ready vs 2 it used to be

Now they show ready all the time when a scan tool, or smog test station, plugs in. Does not matter when battery is disconnected...no IM monitor reset procedure needed

Who did you use for your mail order tune?
