Mac Y-pipe not fitting properly.........

I talked to Mike at Mac. They had great customer service and he was more than willing to have sent me another y-pipe to me by this Friday. I just hope that it is not something else that could possibly be the problem. I really hope it is the y-pipe. It is short a bout an inch to two inches from one collector reaching the y-pipe (horizontally, wide) connecting together on the y-pipe.

I am glad to hear that MAC has appreciation for their customers and I hope that it is the problem. I can't think of anything else it could be. The headers are bolted down flat on the heads and clear of hitting anything.

Please list and other possibilities if you all can think of them.

Thanks,

I had no fitment problems at all with my MAC's and Y-pipe. But I also left the headers loose when fitting the Y-pipe up and then put the bolts on the Y THEN tightened down the headers and then the Y.

You are supposed to bolt the headers in first.

They sent me a new one and it still didn't fit right. I had an exhaust shop cut it and add 2 inches to the pipe so it could fit properly. Cost me an extra $40 for the y-pipe to get fixed, works like a charm now.

My headers and y pipe went right up but the EGR tube fitting didn't reach the header. I called MAC and they just go "it should fit" and I told them it doesn't and they didn't say anything. They didn't help me at all. I ended up having to block the EGR because of them not making the header right.

let me rephrase this.. I put the bolts on my headers in enough to keep them up on the heads, I then went to the bottom and fit the y-pipe on loosely as well. With the dual cats I had a problem because one of the cats on the drivers side was resting against the control arm. SO after playing with the whole setup I managed to get it to work. I then got rid of the cats and went with the ORP. The secret was not completely bolting the headers in tightly until after the y-pipe was test fitted and I made the proper adjustments did I then bolt everythin tightly.

Well from all the readings I have done that is the IMPROPER way to mount your headers and a good way to strip the aluminum heads. I seemed to find that everybody said that the headers need to be bolted down FIRST, then the y-pipe.

Whatever...I do not have stripped heads so go figure and I also did not have a problem with my MAC install, so who is right and who is wrong

Or maybe who got lucky? I might be able to jump off a roof and not get hurt but that doesn't mean I should try it!

As many sports cars I owned and did header installs I NEVER had a problem besides trying to work with all the old stuff.. It is always smart to TEST fit before pointing fingers. That's why you do a full exhaust instead of attempting to bolt on something without checking to make sure everything will fit am I right? You never really buy a header and Y-pipe kit that says "will bolt up to stock exhaust, or flowmaster, or hooker. P.S

I would jump off a roof if I knew I wouldn't get hurt
