AS&M Headers

I was looking at the AS&M headers and I noticed all they have are 93-95 headers. Can these headers be put on a 96? If so, what all do you have to do for them to work? thanks

If you're planning on running no cats, you just need o2 sims and I think a s-pipe to connect to the 96-97 catback. I may be wrong but from what I've heard, that's all you need.

You'll also need to either get adapters for the EGR and A.I.R., or just remove them all together. If you decide to remove them you'll have to program the computer to remove the error codes they'll throw.

I'm running AS&M headers on my 96SS. I have a custom y-pipe though. Not sure exactly what was required to make these fit on my car (bought the car used with them already installed) but I don't believe anything special had to be done with the AIR fittings or EGR fitting... just maybe the y-pipe.

You can make the headers work in a couple of ways:

Buy them with the Y-pipe and convert to OBDI or use O2 simulators.

Keep the OBDII and buy a Random Tech Y-pipe with dual converters that is made to fit these headers. Tbyrnemotorsports sells them. Air and EGR are the same. These are really good headers.

They offer 1 3/4" shorties for dual cat LT1 cars as well. I bought a pair off the board used, not knowing they were for a dual cat car and were made to bolt up to the stock y-pipe. Install was a bitch. In my link in sig you can see the tangled mess they make on the passenger side. Can't put them on without pulling the valve cover and can barely even get the valve cover back on when the header is down there. Definetely go with the 1 3/4" midlength single cat design.
