AS&M header gasket ?
 

has anyone used the header gaskets that came with your AS&M headers? They seem like a decent looking gasket but if they suck I will buy differant ones. I don't want to have to change them in a month.

I would not use them. Use a good set like Felpro. I think the part number is 1406. I am going off of memory, but I think that is right. I would also use better collector gaskets. I blew out two sets before I got wise and got a good set. Better to do it only once.

what kinda collector gaskets are you useing?? i've heard that asbestosis, sp? is they way ta go if they fit good, but i've also heard if there is any spaces in them, ta use copper or lead. so should i go with lead first off just ta be safe??

the only header gaskets i use any more are the stock small block chevy metal manifold gaskets. they are silver with all the little square indents in them. To make your life easier, take the time to find the 3 (per side) individual ones with the bottom of the bolt holes cut out. THis way if you ever do blow one out (which i doubt will ever happen), you can simply lossen the bolts, pull back the header, pull it out and drop another one in there. Hope this helps. Prorac1
